How To Disassemble Old 1983-1992 Camaro Seat Belts

  1. Remove the trim at the upper retractor and remove retractor from the roof structure. Save the hardware for reasembling.
  2. Open the cover at the rear of the lap retractor housing. Remove the bolt holding the retractor in place. Remove the assembly from the car. Cut the webbing between the lap retracor and the tongue.
  3. Drill out the rivet in the side of the retractor housing and drop the retractor out the bottom.

How To Assemble New 1983-1992 Camaro Seat Belts

  1. Assemble retracor and floor anchor without hardware to familiarize yourself with the way the seat belt installs in your car.
  2. Attach the housing mount bracket to the housing with #8-32 screw. The bracket installs parallel with the sill plate (bottom) edge of the housing.
  3. Slip the anchor through the web slot in the retractor housing and bolt in place of the original lap retractor.
  4. Attach the new retractor to the roof structure using the original hardware using care to not twist the seat belt webbing and reassemble the headliner trim parts.
